Farmers Bank of Milton was given the Business Service Award during the Chamber's Annual Dinner Jan. 21, 2009, at Hanover College. Neil Bryan accepted the award on behalf of the bank.
The text of the nominating speech follows:
The Business Service Award is the most prestigious award that the Madison Area Chamber of Commerce awards to its member businesses. It recognizes outstanding achievements by a business that demonstrates leadership, vision, innovation and dedication to the
Jefferson
County
community.
The qualify for this award, a business must be a member of the Madison Area Chamber of Commerce. It must have earned a high level of respect within the business community and given generously to the community in both time and resources.
The business we are honoring tonight has employees serving on many area boards, including the Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber Foundation, United Way, Lide White Boys & Girls Club, Friends of Pope John & Shawe, Madison Regatta, Carroll County Chamber of Commerce and Carrollton Lions Club, and the bridge study group.
This company sponsors $1,000 scholarships at Shawe Memorial, Madison Consolidated and
Southwestern
High Schools
each year. It has sponsored a benefit golf scramble for the Lide White Boys & Girls Club for the past 17 years. It was a financial partner for the capital building fund when a new building was needed for the Boys & Girls Club. There are few youth organizations that have not benefited from this bank’s generosity.
Operating since Oct. 6, 1902, this business has provided needed loans to agriculture and business clients. It has been a consistent supporter of many community organizations, on both sides of the
Ohio
River
. The bank has also given support to the King’s Daughters’ Hospital, several fire departments, Madison Kiwanis, Habitat for Humanity, Red Cross, American Cancer Society, and the Miss Madison and Regatta organizations.
Please join me in congratulating our 2009 Business Service Award recipient, Farmers Bank of
Milton
.
